Mazzer · Flat burrMini G

A hopper-fed 64mm flat burr grinder that bolts a built-in load-cell scale onto the classic Mazzer Mini body, so it doses by weight instead of time or a doser arm.

The short version

This is the old bulletproof Mazzer Mini shape with a scale grafted in, and it does exactly what it promises: same dose in, same dose out, shift after shift.

Accept the roughly 8-gram hopper retention and the fact you are buying a light-commercial workhorse, not a boutique single-dose showpiece.

Why people buy it

  • Grind-by-weight accuracy to about 0.1g even with vibration on a busy counter, verified independently at roughly that spread by reviewers
  • Die-cast aluminum body and asynchronous motor built to the same durability standard as the decades-old original Mini

Why they don’t

  • About 8 grams of retention when run as a hopper grinder, which is a real workflow cost if you switch beans often
The full tally
  • Grind-by-weight accuracy to about 0.1g even with vibration on a busy counter, verified independently at roughly that spread by reviewers
  • Die-cast aluminum body and asynchronous motor built to the same durability standard as the decades-old original Mini
  • Automatically holds the programmed dose weight when you change the grind setting, so you are not re-weighing after every adjustment
  • Hands-free activation via portafilter or the included magnetic dosing cup, with an adjustable fork to center the stream in different basket sizes
  • About 8 grams of retention when run as a hopper grinder, which is a real workflow cost if you switch beans often
  • 64mm burrs and a single 350W motor sit at the smaller end of what is considered commercial-duty, capping it around light-commercial volume (roughly 1kg/day recommended)
  • Mazzer explicitly discourages third-party burr swaps, so upgrade options are limited to Mazzer's own 233M and K202P sets

Worth knowing before you buy — Most prospective owners ask whether the grind quality justifies the price against Eureka Mignon Notte or used commercial burr sets — the conversation frames it as a durability buy, not a performance breakthrough.

Known weak points — Brush wear on older models (documented in Home-Barista threads); motor longevity documented as excellent with proper maintenance; no widespread catastrophic failure pattern reported.

The honest note — Owners who want single-dosing with near-zero retention typically look at the Mazzer Philos or a Niche Zero instead; those who outgrow the Mini G's light-commercial ceiling move up to the Mazzer Kony or a full-size commercial GbW grinder like the E65/E80.

Before it arrives

What completes this grinder — the faded pieces can wait.

Hover any piece for its why.

  • Grinder cleaning kit — Brushes and grinder tablets keep retention and stale grounds in check.

Feed it right

Week one is dial-in — and stale beans will lose it.

Coffee more than a few weeks past roast won’t extract predictably, and a new grinder gets blamed for it. These burrs pull syrup — naturals and classic medium roasts play straight into their character.

Whole bean, dated, ready for your burrs the week it lands.

Roasted to order, daily, in Ajax, Ontario · ships Canada-wide. We’re the roastery behind this database — measuring the machines is how we make sure the coffee gets a fair shot.

Common questions

How much retention does the Mazzer Mini G have?

Used as a hopper grinder with the hopper full, retention is about 8 grams of coffee remaining in the grinding chamber and chute; in single-dose mode after the first few doses it drops to roughly 0.1 gram.

Can I put third-party burrs in the Mini G?

Mazzer advises against it. The only burrs it recommends for this model are its own 233M bearing-steel set and the optional K202P set.

How accurate is the grind-by-weight dosing?

Mazzer rates it at about plus or minus 0.1g, and independent testing by reviewers found doses landing within roughly a tenth of a gram even with counter vibration.
