Wendougee · Dual boilerLITA LA

A compact dual-boiler semi-automatic with dual electromagnetic pumps, full pressure and flow profiling in 0.1 bar steps, and a Bluetooth app ecosystem — unusual capability at this footprint and price point, but the repair network outside China is still thin and the 1.2 L tank fills in a hurry.

The short version

The LITA LA packs a genuine saturated dual-boiler architecture, flow-rate priority profiling, and commercial-grade sensors into a 26 cm wide chassis, making it one of the more technically ambitious home machines under $3 k.

The catch is a brand still establishing its Western service infrastructure, plus an app-dependent workflow that will frustrate anyone who prefers tactile controls.

Why people buy it

  • True dual-boiler with 316L stainless saturated group head gives rock-steady brew temperature and full simultaneous brew-and-steam capability
  • Dual electromagnetic pumps offer 0–9 bar variable pressure and flow profiling in 0.1 bar increments via the E-Bar app, rivalling machines at double the price

Why they don’t

  • Western after-sales and repair network is nascent; warranty coverage and sourcing parts outside China is unproven
The full tally
  • True dual-boiler with 316L stainless saturated group head gives rock-steady brew temperature and full simultaneous brew-and-steam capability

  • Commercial-grade internals — Italian GICAR flow meter, German WIKA pressure sensor — at a prosumer price point
  • Bluetooth ecosystem integrates with compatible grinders and scales for gravimetric brew-by-weight shot stopping
  • Western after-sales and repair network is nascent; warranty coverage and sourcing parts outside China is unproven
  • 1.2 L water tank is small for any session with multiple milk drinks; requires frequent refills
  • Primary control UI lives inside the E-Bar app on a tablet/phone not included — on-machine Intelligent Disc is functional but limited without the app

Worth knowing before you buy — Most early adopters acknowledge they're taking on unproven Western support infrastructure as the price of pressure profiling and value; recommend only to owners willing to self-troubleshoot or connect directly with Chinese manufacturer via…

Known weak points — Water tank and grouphead leaks reported in first year; customer support accessibility in Western markets documented as problematic.

Shot quality is amazing, build quality is fantastic, it's quiet and the steam is very powerful.

drag to look around
LITA LA claims 26.1 × 38.6 cm of a standard 60 cm counter and stands 33.4 cm tall 11.600000000000001 cm to spare under standard 45 cm uppers. The small block is a mug; the counter grid is 10 cm.

The honest note — Owners outgrowing this machine typically move to the Wendougee Data S (gear pump, plumb-in, higher steam power) or to a Decent DE1 for deeper open-source profiling. The LITA LA itself is already near the ceiling of what dual-boiler vibratory-pump architecture can offer, so true upgrades require a gear-pump or commercial machine.

Before it arrives

  • Descaler & backflush kit — Electric boilers scale up and grouts gunk up — a descaler plus backflush routine is what keeps the machine alive for a decade.
  • Coffee scale with timer — Espresso is a ratio. A 0.1g scale with a built-in timer is the single biggest consistency upgrade for any manual machine.
  • Knock box — Somewhere to bang the spent puck that is not your kitchen bin.
  • Calibrated tamper — The bundled tamper is usually an afterthought; a fitted, calibrated one makes prep repeatable.
  • WDT distribution tool — Breaks up clumps before tamping — a cheap fix for channeling on any portafilter machine.
  • Espresso cups & glassware — Proper demitasse and latte glasses keep the drink hot and look the part.

Feed it right

Week one is dial-in — and stale beans will lose it.

Coffee more than a few weeks past roast won’t extract predictably, and a new machine gets blamed for it. A machine in this class will show you the difference between roast dates — it deserves beans that change week to week.

No proper grinder yet? Sort that first — it decides more of the cup than the machine does. We ship whole bean, roast-dated, timed so it lands fresh the week your burrs do.

Roasted to order, daily, in Ajax, Ontario · ships Canada-wide. We’re the roastery behind this database — measuring the machines is how we make sure the coffee gets a fair shot.

Common questions

What is the difference between the LITA BA and LITA LA?

The LA model adds a hot water tap; both share the same dual-boiler, dual-pump architecture. The BA (and LR/BR) variants omit the hot water dispenser and are priced lower.

Does the LITA LA require a tablet to operate?

No — the Intelligent Disc touch controller on the group head allows basic operation without the app. However, building and saving custom pressure/flow profiles, accessing real-time shot graphs, and linking to a scale or grinder all require the free E-Bar app on an Android or iOS device. A tablet is not included.

What grinder does Wendougee recommend with the LITA LA?

The E-Bar ecosystem is optimised for Wendougee's own grinders (Milo Play, Milo II, Ares), which sync grind size to saved profiles via Bluetooth. Any quality espresso grinder will work mechanically, but third-party grinders will not integrate into the app workflow.

Can the LITA LA be plumbed in?

No plumb-in option is listed for the LITA LA. It uses a removable 1.2 L water reservoir. Plumb-in is available on the higher-tier Wendougee Data S.

How does the LITA LA compare to the Decent DE1?

Both offer advanced pressure and flow profiling with real-time data. The LITA LA uses a traditional dual-boiler with a saturated group head for thermal mass and steam power, while the Decent DE1 uses a thermoblock. The Decent has a more mature open-source software ecosystem; the LITA LA has stronger steam output and a lower price of entry.
