The counter’s vote

Looks barely figure in either machine’s record — the counter can sit this one out.

Decent DE1XL: Industrial minimalism — purchased by enthusiasts who value the screen and tactile workflow over countertop aesthetics; polarizes kitchen-approval shoppers but drives no award-cited purchases.

DRIVE: Polished metal and minimalist German aesthetic with industrial appeal; owners cite it as sleek and a pleasure to own, though design is described as secondary to engineering substance rather than a…

Only the DRIVE: PID temperature control.

Only the DRIVE: brewing and steaming at once.

Where they tie: shot ceiling · forgiving to learn on · parts & repair · push-button convenience · value per dollar — don’t let a spec sheet invent a difference.

So — which one?

Take the Decent DE1XL if —

  • Patience is not your virtue at 6 a.m.

Take the DRIVE if —

  • You host, and drinks come in rounds
  • You are buying once
  • Milk drinks are the daily order
  • It has to just work, every day

The Profitec Drive joystick is really more of a binary thing -- on or off... Having said all that, the machine steams well and you can adjust the steam boiler temp to get pressure control so not a big deal.
